Based on the belief that a school is both about informal contacts and about formal learning, the design for the school provides room for each in one single spatial structure.
The setup is based on a straightforward repetition of oblong studio spaces, each vaulted by an autonomous roof. All roofs merge into one flat roof running along the length of the building, thus creating a covered circulation space with the ambition of a street: de lange gang (the long corridor). Cutting through the campus, this corridor opens up the school to a public larger than the arts students themselves.
